hi everyone! just a quick update! this past weekend was the first ever evening with charlotte martin & friends (a concert to benefit savedarfur.org) at the knitting factory in hollywood. about two months ago while driving on sunset it hit me that i wanted the char mar team to end this year with a bang. and then i thought about all her musician friends and how much fun they would all have playing a show together. then i thought how much fun the fans would have watching her have fun with her friends. charlotte was joined on stage by drummer fernando sanchez, billy hawn, paul kim, beth katte, terami hirsch, tommy walter (abandoned pools, eels, glacier hiking) justin meldal johnson (beck, ima robot) and ken andrews (failure, on, year of the rabbit).

its quite a production. we have cello, two and three bass players, guitar, percussion and drums, vocalists and a french horn. they are all playing charlotte songs - more like the actual production of the record.

it was a great success - by far the best show charlotte has ever played. i think everyone can agree with this. something like a hero in particular - billy and fernando playing drums at the same time? WOW. backing vocals on gravel with two bass and a bass guitar in addition to char and fern? i mean wow. the whole night was amazing.

so i ofcourse shot while i could - i was running the whole thing so i was running around in a bit of a frenzy, however i did shoot a little during rehearsal the day before, a little during sound check backstage and a bit during the show - when i could. often blurry, the colors all off - but shows you what everyone was able to see. you can find the gallery here.
